Your Questions About International Sim

Robert asks…

Whats better?: International Roaming or Buying a Pre-Paid Sim card while in Thailand?

im going to Thailand soon with some friends and i was wonder what is cheaper and a more convenient way of communicating with them while im down there. i also need to keep in contact with family and friends in Melbourne to :

1. putting my phone on international roaming and paying the extra roaming charges (btw im on a plan) that way i can keep my number but ive heard its quite costly

2. buying a pre paid sim card when i get there and putting money on it however i think ill need a new number and that might be kind of annoying especially if its not that much cheaper.

thanks for the help.

Pre paid sim card …. No question.

Nancy asks…

Free o2 to o2 calls & texts: Is it still free if you call a uk o2 number which is using international roaming?

My boyfriend just flew from UK to Australia. He is using international roaming on his UK O2 sim card.
And I have a pay as you go sim, with free o2 to o2 calls and texts. Please tell me if it would still be free when I call him while he’s in Aussie. I miss him..

Thanks guys!

Pete answers:

For you it would cost nothing extra to ring him. It depends if 02 differentiate between UK and those handsets on roaming for using inclusive minutes.

Your boyfriend has to pay to receive calls he other hand will have to pay to receive calls: up to £1.41 a minute on pay monthly and 99p a minute on pay as you go.Texts usually cost nothing to receive if roaming.

There are various ‘bolt on’s that 02 offer to lower the cost of roaming, did he look into them before he went?

If you are spending ages talking, he is going to get one hell of a bill. If he is staying in a hotel, get the number and ring it using a land line, much cheaper.
