Richard asks…
How can one unlock an iPhone so that one can use the phone on any GSM network rather than AT&T exclusively?
I want to unlock the Apple iPhone (exclusively from AT&T) to use it on any GSM network in the world, particularly on T-Mobile. I want to be able to use all the features currently available for the iPhone, but I understand if I cannot use the visual voice mail on other GSM networks. Please share with me how to do it.
Thank you in advance.

A teenager just this past week unlocked it. Here’s the story on it from Yahoo! News:

It has the information that you need. I understand that this is a non-trivial exercise. The article also outlines an alternative (supposedly simpler) SIM card based “unlocking”.

Lizzie asks…
iphone gsm 900/1800/1900 w/ t-mobile?
i recently purchased an unlocked iphone the only supports the tri=band frequency. gsm 900 1800 1900. I live in new jersey and am wondering will this be an issue. I currently have the blackberry pearl with t=mobile and am hoping to transfer my sim card. The service with the pearl is decent no complaints there but i just hope that a tri=band will give me some satisfaction. Any advice will be appreciated thank you
Pete answers:
It should be okay, Tmobile uses the 1900 GSM band.
