It means that your you can use any sim from any network for your mobile. Putting sim from another phone operator in to a gsm locked iphone other than the one specified when purchased, would not be you to access the network or take calls from it or even use the net on it. However in a gsm unlocked phone you can keep changing your sim as many times as you like……
Eg:-an iphone with a vodaphone sim specification can only use vodaphone sim……. However a open iphone can use sims from vodaphone or airtel or any telephone operator you obtain a sim from international SIM card sales.
